The Emotikonz started off roughly around the years 2007 and 2008 as a paper-drawn comic band called The Hoods. In the year 2009, the lead singer/creator , Anthony Gasaway, Jr. began to experiment with a more atmospheric sound, stepping away from the bland beat-only tracks and adding on other instruments to accommodate one another. The first album completed, Movies and Emotions, presented a more jazzy appeal and was much liked locally, however the band was still lacking the distant, distinguished sound. It wasn't until he wrote out the songs for another album to be entitled Forgotten Value, that this new sound was born. After writing several songs, including Radio Rock, the band name was officially changed to The Emotikonz in 2010. Behind the scenes, there are only a handful of collaborating artists that have contributed and featured on the songs produced, and cartoon music videos showing the band can be found on YouTube.

In more recent years, The Emotikonz has been featured on Jam City America, an online radio station dedicated to playing Independent artists/bands' music free, worldwide 24/7. Tune in to Jam City America at www.jcaradio.com, or download the pop-out players and have a listen!
